Eligible Bulgarians, Brazilians, Romanians Can Travel to Canada without Visa

Certain citizens of Bulgaria, Brazil and Romania will now be able to travel to Canada without obtaining a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV, which is also known by the name 'visitor visa'). A quicker and cheaper process has been put in place for the travel of these people.

These individuals will now have to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before they can board a flight for Canada. This new change in rule will be effective from May 1st and will be applicable to citizens of these three countries who have traveled to Canada in the past 10 years and who are having a valid non-immigration (visitor) visa of United States (US).

Individuals who are not fulfilling these requirements or are coming to Canada by bus, car, boat or train, will still need to have a TRV.

Another news update has come out that the visa requirements for all Bulgarian and Romanian citizens will be uplifted by Canada starting from December 1, 2017. The Government of Canada has not announced as to when and will the same policy be implemented for citizens of Brazil.

This new system was launched back in August 1, 2015 and till now more than 3.6 million eTAs have already been issued to travelers who are exempted for applying for visa. This system was made mandatory in November 2016 for visa-exempt travelers.

Before the introduction of eTA system, visa-exempt foreign national traveling to Canada were not screened systematically at the time of admission till the time they are already at the Canadian Port of Entry.

The change in rules will make it easy for eligible visitors who are coming to Canada and for transiting through a Canadian airport. This will also increase the number of visits made by them. Ahmed Hussen, Canada's Immigration Minister, stated that the change in rules will increase the travel and tourism and will be economically beneficial for Canadians.

The Government of Canada is making changes from all corners to make traveling to Canada easier, be it as a visitor or to live here permanently.

In the recent past, Canada has made changes in its different permanent residency visa program as well. In case you want to settle in Canada permanently than you can take assistance from world's leading immigration consultant WWICS.
