Canada invited 761 PNP candidates to apply for permanent residence on September 29, 2021

Canada invited another 761 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence in new Express Entry draw conducted on September 29, 2021.

Immigration candidates who had previously received nominations under an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were eligible for this round of invitations.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for this draw was 742. A provincial nomination automatically awards a candidate 600 additional CRS points; therefore PNP draws always have higher cut-off threshold than any other type of Express Entry draw.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was July 29, 2021 at 09:45:29 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 742 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation to apply (ITA) in this draw.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.  A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

Express Entry-aligned PNPs

With an aim to attract highly skilled immigrants and deal with labour market needs, many of Canada’s provinces and territories have provincial nominee immigration streams linked to federal Express Entry.

Immigration candidates, who obtain a nomination from an Express Entry-aligned PNP, automatically receive 600 points toward their overall CRS score, eventually enabling him/her receive an ITA quickly.

Invited Express Entry candidates now have 60 days to submit their complete application for Canadian permanent residence. If their application gets approved, IRCC will issue them a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).

So far this year, IRCC has invited total 109,696 Express Entry Candidates under PNP and CEC streams to apply for Canada PR.

Permanent Residence In Canada For International Graduates Under Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

International students who recently graduated from a degree or diploma study program at a Canadian university or college can apply for a provincial nomination under the International Student category of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

With a nomination, the applicant can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent resident status. Applicant’s spouse or common-law partner as well as any dependent children can also be included on the application.

Ø  Basic Requirements

However, there is a set of requirements that an applicant must have to fulfill. Given below are key requirements to apply under the International Student category of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

• Applicant must be graduated from or has met the requirements of a full-time degree or diploma program from a publicly-funded Canadian college/university
• The study program should be of at least two years in length or a one year post-graduate certificate program, which requires a previous degree to qualify
• Applicant must have completed at the minimum half of their studies in Canada
• Applicant must apply within two years from the date on which he/she graduated
• Applicant must have an approved permanent or full-time job offer in a high-skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification level 0, A or B) that fulfill the entry-level wage levels in Ontario for that occupation

Ø  Some other important things to note

• The Ontario International Student category is not associated with the federal Express Entry system. Therefore, applications for permanent residence made following a nomination under this program are processed entirely outside Express Entry.
• It is not compulsory that the study program should have been located in Ontario; graduates of study programs across Canada can be eligible to apply.
• Obtaining a job offer from an employer in Ontario is mandatory as it is not possible to successfully apply to this stream without a valid job offer. However, Ontario employers looking to hire under this visa program, first have to submit a Pre-Screen Application mentioning the position they wish to fill. Their application must be approved by OINP.

The IRCC announced the Student Direct Stream (SDS) which will benefit students from China, India, Vietnam, and the Philippine. The main aim behind this is to support the growth in study permit applications.

To qualify for SDS, the applicants are required to meet additional requirements, in particular, language levels that are strict than regular study permit requirements.

Students who do not have all of the additional information required for the SDS can apply through the regular study permit application process, either online or at a Visa Application Centre.

The IRCC said, “The SDS complements the Express Entry system as these students will be well placed to continue on the path to permanent residence and Canadian citizenship after completing their studies in Canada if they wish to.”

According to the reports, the new program will cut down the processing time for study permits to within 45 days from within 60 days.

Saskatchewan's New Expression of Interest System Comes into Effect

The new Expression of Interest system for Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand sub-categories from the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program is in operation now.

The old method of first-come, first-served model that was used by Saskatchewan has come to an end as the new Expression of Interest (EOI) system comes into effect.

Busy June Month for Canada Express Entry Immigration System

Canada has made the month of June 2018 a really special one when it comes to bringing in new immigrants to the country. This month can be said to be the busiest ever since the Express Entry system was first introduced in 2015.

Well, there was nothing special in the number draws. Just like any other month, two Express Entry draws were carried out in this month as well. What made this month special is the fact that a total of 7,500 candidates were invited to apply for permanent residence of Canada.

Two big invitation rounds were carried out by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and 3,750 Invitations to Apply or ITAs were issued in each of these two draws – achieving the feat of largest invitation round till now in 2018.

As many of you must be aware that Express Entry manages applications that are submitted in three main economic immigration classes – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

The candidates who are at the top in the Express Entry pool are issued the ITAs through the invitation rounds that are held regularly.

Dear aspiring immigrants there has been a gradual increase in the number of ITAs that have been issued in all program draws that have been held in 2018. Canada immigration authorities opened the year of 2018 with 2,750 ITAs being issued in each of the two draws in January, after that in the month of February and March 3,000 ITAs were issued in the four Express Entry draws that were held in these two months.

As we enter the month of April and May, we see 3,500 ITAs being issued in the four draws that were held in these two months. The Canadian immigration authorities moved to the fast lane and the month of June was made the most busiest when it comes to the number of new immigrants being called to Canada.

Can We Expect More Big Draws in Future?

We cannot answer this question with absolute certainty but we can make a comparison between this year and previous year.

In June 2017 3,409 ITAs were issued and in June 2018, this number has more than doubled at 7,500 ITAs. We should remember here that 2017 was a phenomenal year in terms of Express Entry ITAs issued.

Now, a total of 86,023 ITAs were issued by IRCC in that year. We are almost half way in the year 2018 and till now a total of 39,700 ITAs have been issued – this is less than half of the total of 2017.

In case IRCC wants to achieve or surpass its 2017 target, than it will have to carry out large and frequent draws in the coming months. This is the requirement of the time as Canadian immigration authorities have set up still higher targets for 2018 and 2019.

So, looking at the present scenario, we can surely expect still larger and frequent Express Entry draws from the Canadian government.
