WWICS’ Guide on Warning Signs to Spot Fraud Immigration Scammers

With the globalization, more and more people are moving overseas in search of better education, work and lifestyle opportunities. However, majority of people are not quite aware about the immigration proceedings, therefore, sometimes, they become vulnerable to immigration fraud.

As a team of reliable and leading resettlement service providers, WWICS strives to assist people who wish to live and work overseas following the correct and lawful processes. WWICS is totally aware of the various migration fraud and scams that exist today; therefore, we’d like to help you protect yourself by keeping you well informed about the warning signs to spot a fraud immigration consultant/company.

Check out these warning signs and save your dignity and money

·         Claims of a guaranteed visa

If any visa consultant contacts you, guaranteeing that you can get a visa in no time, it is definitely a scam! No one can guarantee you a visa or even influence the outcome of your application as only the official immigration department of a country can issue you a visa, provided that you meet all the requirements.

·         Offers jobs/opportunities that sounds too good to be true

If you receive any call or email guaranteeing you a job you didn’t apply for, it can be a scam. No doubt, some companies today have difficulty finding workers because of skill shortages, but that doesn’t mean employers would go around calling or emailing people out of the blue.

·         Calls from people claiming to be an Immigration official

If you ever receive any out of the blue call from someone claiming to be a representative of government body, insisting that there are errors in your application and demand that you pay a fine as soon as possible; hang up immediately. Such types of calls are generally made by scammers as immigration officers do not issue penalty notices or ask for payments over the phone.

·         Consultants who can’t show proof that they’re fit to provide immigration assistance

WWICS always recommend you to only seek assistance from registered agents as they have sound knowledge of immigration laws and processes. If you’re approached by someone claiming to be a registered visa/migration agent, ask for their Registration Number. Moreover, if they don’t provide you a contract or statement of the fees and services they offer, it is a clear sign that they are unregistered.

The bottom line is that there's no alternative to be careful and up-to-date with latest immigration proceedings. WWICS always recommend you to keep yourself safe by being vigilant and staying on the lookout for these migration frauds and scams.
